Took me long enough to finish it, almost 4 years after it was released. I’m still trying to work through and collect every collectable in the bloody game.
My enjoyment stems from hunting every little collectable each level has to offer; this constant loop of hide and seek is what makes this game so enjoyable. Every empty space by a pipe or door is viewed with suspicion, any overhanging ledge may hide away a flower, enemies stack above one another may really be a hint that there’s something above that needs considering – each level hides away a secret version of its truest form.

It also looks like my mum decided to spend her retirement concocting a universe made of knitted products. Each level consistently represents the game’s aesthetic – from scarves portraying flowing lava to blue threads denoting running streams. It’s undeniably cute – like sickeningly cute (not to mention the amiibos as well). Like I wanna Lenny-this-up cute.
Special mention to the S levels – these are the levels that offer the greatest difficulty with an absolutely banging soundtrack. They’re delightful with platforming mechanics that I’ve not seen before (notably escorting a demented Monty Mole to finish a level).

I’ve not unlocked all S levels, but will ensure to do so, just to be able to experience all the inventiveness this game has to offer.
Just a delight – worth playing on the Wii U or on the 3DS.
